Musings on Book 2 Part 2

Book 2 Part 2 The Siege of Cita Del Mar
 is complete, they have freed the city from the grasp of the Red Star.

Fall out
Someone should be made Champerlain.
How will they treat captured forces?
How will they rebuild?

What spoils of war?
  there should be some magic, and some gold
 is it time to actually start counting gold?

are they sure they 'saved the village'?

How do they want to approach the other two prophecies?

Who leveled up?
do we give them a game or two before all the others are level 8?
or leave them at 7 a bit.

The village could be,
  Their home street, once their parents are in direct danger, they will start to help, and then stir up all the other parents and ex-adventurers

Game Recap

- they started mostly out by their home street. There was some fighting with the stree guard Red Star, and the RS leader threw a torch into the stable (AJ's / Stephans home)
- flashback to them as kids, accidentally starting a fire in the same place.
- some of them had to rescue the old man that lives there... makes some comments about 'once when I was younger I could have commanded the fire away!" waving his arms as a madman.
- return from flashback, some rush in to save the old man again... and this time ask what he'd meant before, so they get the tale of him as Champerlain, and the power of the chain of office.
-they managed to get over the river somehow without using the bridges, probably using the River Otters of the elves, or maybe a magic boat they had handy.

- They debated and discussed things just outside the gate of the keep for some long time. fearing for their lives around the HUGE statues that came to life the time before.
- they were joined by units of both elves and dwarves
- after a lengthy debate they noticed the dwarves retreating without reason, eventually they realized the fear affect of the town was hiting the dwarves, they stayed in formation but kept steping backwards, very embarasing for them.
- at some point Red (Taylor) decided she'd waited enough and just started climbing the wall), soon they were mostly clambering up and taking on the guards at the top of the wall.
- the less climbery remained and searched for the secret door they somehow knew was there, and eventually found it between the legs of one of the statues... they felt pretty endangered.
-meanwhile inside the two rogues were searchiing and attaching the wizards tower, however the chain of office was not to be found.
- I maneuvered them so they all arrived at the Throne room within moments, and started one big fight to end the game.
- during that fight I asked everyone who had ever touched one of the dark books to make a WILL save, those that lost heard a voice in their head saying "you ARE the Dark". the two on the ground floor started walking to surrender, the two rogues found they could not directly attack, and the countess rolled a 29, so she was totally unaffected - and I plan to consider her immune from this affect from now on.
- despite all this, they kicked butt, stole the chain of office from the neck of the head Wizard, and won the day.
 - the one who was named the new Chamberlain?  Leeflo the Hafling Rogue :-) (he who embodies the traditional thief roll, including stealing money from their own team pockets.

Red Star Book Two, Part Three (apparantly the Seige was already part 2)

So what do you do once you've won the day?

Well, you worry about the big bully coming and taking it away from you for one.
At least one of the players, Ian, is concerned about the presumably Huge Red Star Army coming and taking it all away.
So, I'm ok with them feeling that way, Not at all sure why they are wrong, but they must be.
Therefore, either the army aint so big, or isn't interested in them, or something else is distracting the EHK.
suggestions?

Short Term - this game
Things they should have to think about ie, potential scene list.
- What will Leeflo do while he has control of the elementals?
- Who should the Countess nominate to replace him?
- Who should run the city for her?
- What issues arrise in a city that has been under the rule of the Red Star for a year?
 - Which of those would be fun for the PC's?
- How to introduce Ilsa's new character, a Dwarven fighter...

- what flashback might we use to introduce her?

Other Threads
- Book Keepers - know Kendrick has several books, has their snitch near him, what is their next play?
- 2 more prophecies the PC's know about
    - child in blue  and return with the ring ... and their scenes
 - Maintaining control and support of the elves and dwarves
 - Gathering more support
 - Contacting the rebellion
 - basic reconnaisance of the local area: who is the Duke, how many forces, what is his plan - he's under preassure and prehaps hiding this information from the King.
- Eventually the Cardinal will do something, just to make a bigger mess of it all.

Castle Seige RS$50+ ??

Issue, the key to control of the elementals guarding the city is the Chain of Office. That is currently being worn by the head wizard of the Red Star, last scene leading a ritual inside the main keep of Citi De Mar.

PC's are mostly outside that castle keep, and the gates are guarded by Huge Earth Elementals bound to protect the keep.

-- two ideas
1- show them an image of the chains flying through the air, as the proper official can summon them, but maybe that don't work if he's currently wearing it. Its a summoning to office so he doesn't ahve to wear it all the time but can get it in an emergency.

2- need something for the main group to be doing while the mage and rogues work out that puzzle. maybe the mind numbing is starting to affect the dwarves and elves (maybe not the elves) so they have to go back to that puzzle, find the magical markings everywhere and rub them out / desctroy them?

there are rules about how the Oracle works, will clarify with you later.
